Wordpress 2.5 Now Available
Wordpress 2.5 RC2 Wordpress 2.5 is released, download it now and upload Lenky Plugin v1.0.7 beta to it and enjoy!

I am also working on the new version of lenky plugin, the new version will have more features, check this post for more info about the new features.

More Features Are On The Way

We are working on adding more features and fixing some issues that was reported by our users.

Here’s what we are working on now:

  • Ability to show/hide lenky related results from a certain post
  • Removing the “blank” attribute from showed links to leave it to user to choose between opening it on a new window or on the same window.
  • All images and javascript files will be included with the plugin to make the page load faster.
  • Fixing the validation issue so that bloggers have lenky plugin installed will not get HTML validation errors because of the plugin.
  • The plugin will not show errors in your blog in case of a connection problem between your blog and lenky.
  • Making the trackig code more accurate so it will not miss any hit come to your website from lenky.

Most of this list has been finished already and we are testing before releasing it.

Here’s a screen shot of how you will be able to SHOW/HIDE lenky results in certain posts from lenky plugin options page.

And as you know lenky is still in beta so if you have any suggestions or ideas, they are welcomed and really appreciated.

It is a month since we launched lenky related links plugin, and i am happy as we achieved more than we expected in one month and this is because you trusted us, so i want to THANK all bloggers who installed lenky plugin on their blogs.

Lenky Plugin Stats in the first month, from 5/2/2008 to 5/3/2008 :

Number of posts processed by lenky : 39,871

Number of related results showed by lenky : 120,495

And we will offer live stats about lenky plugin soon.

I want also to say SORRY for all users that didn’t get lenky plugin working on their websites.

New Version 1.0.7 beta

A new version is released : (1.0.7) beta

In this new version of lenky related links plugin we added :

An Options Page “Lenky Plugin Options” Page (Options >> Lenky Plugin Options)

This Options page allow you to choose where the related links should show up, the defaults are to show the related results at Individual blog posts and in pages.

Showing related results at the home page of the blog caused problems for some users, and makes home page work a bit slower.

The other thing you can configure using this options page is to edit the “Related Links to this post:” as we found that some bloggers who installed lenky plugin changed it ( from the source code of the plugin ) so i think it is easier to edit it using the options page.

We are now working on adding the stats to lenky admin page( how many links of your blog posts are shown in other blogs using lenky, and how many hits you got through lenky, ……. etc. ) , also in the next release you will have an option of removing related links from certain posts ( for example : posts with personal information ) .

We are also working on improving or system to drive more relevant links than before.

Another thing is “Digg us, or write a post about lenky plugin” , the more users we will get the more links, and hits you will get from us.

Update your version (1.0.66)

This version can’t be called a new version as it is an optimized version of 1.0.6, version 1.0.6 has 2 problems:

  1. tracking clicks is not working properly in old browsers.
  2. the report window is not working properly.

these problems are fixed now

Lenky New Version 1.0.6 beta

Update: For users that already downloaded lenky version 1.0.6 we found that the “report links window” is not working properly and we updated the way of showing that window so re-download it if it doesn’t work in your blog

This new version is the most upgraded version since the first release of lenky related link plugin

In This version ( 1.0.6 beta ) we made 3 major upgrades :

  1. We added Report Links option so that users can report a link to us if it is not related to that post.
  2. We are now tracking clicks, preparing for providing stats about how many links from your blog are shown in other blogs, and how many hits you got from lenky, ….etc.
  3. We upgraded our system and the way we were searching, it is supposed to get better results than before.

Yes, Humans are better :) , so we decided to use the human power and intelligence to make lenky results be more related and relevant.

We are testing a new version of lenky related links plugin, this new version will make results more related, as this version will allow your blog visitors to say if a link from the related links is related to a post or not.

This version is already installed here, you can see at the end of the related results, and when a user click on it a window opens :

You can test it your self :D

all you have to do to report a link to be rechecked by lenky is to click on beside it.

This will inform lenky that this result is not relevant to that post, so we will check this result and if it is not related then it will be replaced by another result.

Thanks for all bloggers who installed lenky related links plugin, also Thanks to Ajax Agent as it is a great tool for building ajax applications.

A new version of lenky related links plugin is released

Some times lenky can’t find many related links for a certain post, and in last version this caused empty space to appear.

There was a problem reported by many users that when they install lenky plugin on their blog, only the header of the blog appears

The new version 1.0.4 beta fixed this issue, as this issue was happening for users that have other plugins that are using simplepie.

New Version

A new version of lenky plugin is released, the new version fixed three things :

1. The related links were interfering with the content of the post

2. A vulnerability that was reported by Yu-Jie Lin.

3. It was taking up to 60 minutes to show the related links, it is now set to max of 15 mins.

To Upgrade from prior version all you have to do is to delete the old /lenkyex folder and upload the new one in this version , and make sure to chmod the cache file to 777

It is very recommended for all users to upgrade their plugin to the latest version
